Week 3 Mexico City MTC

Howdy everyone!!

So this week was really fun, and it went by fast, days here feel like weeks but the weeks feel like days, its so crazy! so to start off i wanted to share a spiritual experience. so during one of the night classes my teacher asked me if i would pretend to be an investigator, so i said sure, the investigator i was playing was a man named Chris, chris and his family one night were driving and were hit by a drunk driver. The accident caused Chris´s wife, there unborn child, and there daughter. Chris and his two sons survived. Now i had to pretend that i didnt believe in God and that if there is a God he doesnt care about us. Now my teacher and one of my other classmates were giving the lesson to me, by the way this is all in spanish. While they were giving me the lesson i started to get super emotional because i honestly felt like i was chris and that What the "missionaries" were saying were true. I honestly understood about half of the spanish words that they said, but because the spirit was there he helped me understand what they were trying to say. i don't know if that quite makes sense but it was super cool to experience, then on top of that i was speaking back to them and a lot of the words coming out my mouth i have never said before, so it was an awesome experience.

The next spiritual thing i want to share, was the next day our teacher asked us to write a letter like we were in heaven before we came down, and write the letter to someone as if they were going to be one of our investigators in our mission in the future. It was really cool to see what other people said and what i thought i would say and it honestly made me feel very loving and excited to get to my mission. okay now for a funny story, i was asked to play the piano in sacrament for our branch. The first song i played was Nearer my God to thee, and i did a pretty good job. Then the sacrament song came, and i kept messing up, and not a little bit but alot, so i just stopped playing and sang, haha and to make it worse was the fact that one of the presidents of the MTC happened to be at our branch that day! I was really embarrased but oh well. Then to make it even more worse, the whole time he was sitting up front of everyone and giving his talk he starred right at me! hahaha.
So I love sundays because 1. they have a different schedule than the rest of the week. 2. Devotionals are always really good, last sunday we heard a talk by Elder Bednar about its what you feel that matters, not what you think. 3. Movies, I love the sunday night movies!!! well after the sunday movie, a sister in my district asked me to give her a blessing of health and comfort, this was my first one. It was an awesome experience!!
Okay also one thing i have learned that helps a ton, Is your attitude, there are a lot of missionaries who have bad attitudes and when you have a bad attitude missions are hard. I learned this through watching some of the missionaries in my district. So i have made a committment to always do my best to have a good attitude.
Tuesday like sundays are also awesome. It starts off as half of the day learning and studying then the second half is full of gym, service project such as folding sheets, a devotional, and best of Costco Pizza!! haha.

I hope everyone is doing great! everything here in the Mexico MTC is as good as usually, by the way no the hurricane in Mexico didnt have any impact on us! By the way its always great to hear how everyones doing, so please send a letter at letter@mtcmexicocarepackage.com. Love you all and Hasta luego!

Ps sorry if i spell things wrong, for some reason learning spanish has messed with both my English vocab and grammer and also my spanish vocab and grammer.

Week 2 Mexico City MTC

Hola everyone!

How is everyone doing? Life here in the CCM is pretty much the same old routine everyday. They have a schedule for us for the next six weeks that is by 15 min so its pretty strict, but the schedule and rules aren't really enforced, its kind of up to us.

So last week i forgot to mention the I had the opportunity to go to the Mexico Temple! It was really big and kind of reminded me of the Jordan River temple. It was weird to listen to everything in spanish and to have to speak spanish to some of the people there. To start about my week i am going to give a lil information about each day.
Thursday last week the only interesting thing was that Elder King and I since he is district leader went and talked to a new district that had just arrived and gave them some advice about the MTC life. The advice I gave them was to go to bed early and to make sure they are on time to the meetings and schedules, also that gym time is heavenly. haha. Friday, We found out that our "investigator" ended up becoming our teacher but i already kind of knew. His name is Hermano AguiƱga he is super awesome and super nice. Saturday, this day was hard for me because I struggled a lil bit with some of the spanish stuff and another teacher made a comment on how i need to be better, which kind of hurt because I've been working really hard, but the bright side is that My district and I played cage soccer with the latinos and I scored a goal on the latinos and they were shocked that i was pretty good. haha.
Okay Sundays are pretty awesome, I went to the leadership meeting in the morning because my compaƱero had to go. We were assigned to do the sacrament, and I was choosen to give the sacrament prayer and it was pretty weird. Also Elder king and I were called to be zone leaders which i was shocked.  after sacrament and dinner and everything we were able to watch a movie with all of CCM and we watched Meet the Mormons which was really good. My district and also a couple of other people in my casa also joined the CCM choir. Its pretty fun.  Monday was same old, but gym time, cage soccer against the latinos and my District owned them, and the latinos were way upset and kept saying rematch on thursday! haha. Yesterday we played bball with another district from our zone and it was way fun, we also had a devotional and it was really cool, the speaker spoke in spanish but we had a translater, and at some points it was easier to understand the spanish than it was to understand the english. The choir after one practice performed opened up for the devotional and it turned out pretty well.  after the devotional we had costco pizza for dinner which was a tender mercy. Not trying to be mean but the food here seems like its almost the same everyday, so a change up was nice. Wednesday/today, we just worked out and took a nap and thats about it! haha. Hope everyone is doing well.

Week 1 Mexico City MTC

Hello everyone!!

Week one at the MTC/CCM is done and 5 more to go. The ccm is actually really cool. It used to be an LDS school that they turned into a MTC. Its super beautiful. It sits like 10 to fifteen feet lower than the streets that surround it and has an additional 10 feet of fence on top of that. Also there are a lot of guards that are inside the gate and fence so i feel really safe.

My companion is named Elder King. The rest of the Elders in my district are Elder Floyd and Elder Willey, They are super nice and are way more far advanced than i am at spanish. So they are constantly helping me get better. The first day here we had to teach an investigator named Ivan. But really hes secretly are teacher starting friday but we arent suppose to know. Elder king and I have taught him 3 times since than and our spanish is definetly getting better. I have a strong testimony that the gift of toungues is a real thing. Because I am honestly not being taught spanish but i am being taught the gospel in spanish and some how I am learning how to speak it and how to apply it. Also Elder king and I went in and taught a lesson and I did not know half of the words i spoke during the lesson but Ivan definitely understood the spanish i was speaking and said i was super clear. That was a strong testimony to me that as long as i am obedient to the rules and put effort into my study all i have to do is open my mouth and what needs to be said will be said.

I haven't really been homesick at all but every once in a while i have a moment of sadness. For example i was laying down to sleep and i thought about my bed and that was the most sad i have ever been! hahaha. I hope everything is going well.

PS. Please use this site www.letter@MTCMexicocarepackage.com so I can get a letter. It would be super nice. Love you all!!!Ether 12:27
